This is the interview I did with the beautiful and talented Hope Levy voice Actress of Rebecca Chambers in Resident Evil Remake!
REZF: Did you have fun playing Rebecca on Resident Evil?
Hope: Yes! I had fun!
It was basically me alone in a recording booth getting direction through my headphones from the casting director interpreting the direction from the creator of the show!
It would have been more fun to work with other actors but that has never happened for me on any of the Games I've worked on. Sad but true.
When I work on animated series for tv, I get to work with other actors and that is always the most fun obviously!
REZF: Ah that sucks! you did'nt meet any of the other actors? man!
I understand from the last email you sent me that you don't have your own copy of the game! Remake was a pretty hard game for me to find myself because I tried looking a couple years after it released. Now when you found out about your role as Rebecca Chambers did you have to do any research or study on the character?
Hope: I didn't do any research....
The film hadn't come out when I recorded my sessions...
I just performed the character the same way I had read it in the first audition!
THen they worked with me to lower my vocal quality a little...
That's all!
REZF: Now I’ve heard most of your voice work on some of my most favorite Games and I was surprised at how many you were in! How do you compare Resident Evil with other work you’ve done?
Hope: It is the most popular game I have worked on to date and the one that has generated soooo many nice emails from fans all over the world!!!
REZF: Now during your work playing as Rebecca were there any scenes particularly difficult to perform?
Hope: I think the emotional scene where one of her pals or love interests died...
I hadn't been given a script beforehand so when that synopsis presented itself , I hadn't had time to do any sort of preparation! I was pretty much acting on the fly with this game! Or as actors call it, "Moment to moment!"
REZF: After you were done with Resident Evil Remake did you consider doing Rebecca Chambers voice in Resident Evil Zero?
Hope: If the creators had asked me to do it I gladly would have!!!!
REZF: Now I’ve seen this question on a lot of interviews but do you and Rebecca have any similarities?
Hope: We both have brown hair!!!! I think we both can be emotional and intense at times!
REZF: Now what do you like about being a voice actress?
Hope: I love not having to memorize lines or worry about wearing makeup to a set!!! It's also very fast work with not a lot of time wasted on hanging out in your trailer waiting to work!!!!
REZF: Is there any projects you’re working on or have coming up?
Hope:I just recorded a little part on the tv show KING OF QUEENS! And I mean little part but it was a fun job! I also have been doing voice over work on a new tv show called TRAVELER which is slated to air later this year on ABC.
REZF: Do you have any tips for those who interested in becoming voice actors?
Hope:Take improv classes and acting classes first. Explore your range and work on lots of different characters and attitudes! Then take voice over classes to learn mic technique and how to read commercial and animation material. Then all you learned in acting classes will kick in!!!!
REZF: Is there anything you’d like to say to any gaming fans out there, especially any Resident Evil or Hope Levy fans?
Hope: Thanks for being soooo supportive of me as a voice over artists! It feels good to know that my voice has reached and or touched game players in some way!
